Best Online Ruler ("we", "us", "the site") is a free browser-based tool for measuring on-screen. This policy explains what data the site touches, in plain terms.

No accounts, no server-side data

There is no sign-up, no login, and no user database. The ruler, calibration flow, and unit conversions all run entirely in your browser. We do not collect, store, or transmit your measurements, calibration values, or device information to any server.

What's stored locally on your device

The site uses your browser's local storage (never cookies) to remember a small set of preferences between visits:

• Your calibration values (pixel density) so you don't have to recalibrate every visit.
• Your chosen unit (mm, cm, or in), ruler sides, font size, and light/dark theme preference.

This data stays on your device and is never uploaded anywhere. Clearing your browser's site data removes it completely. Because it's stored per-browser, it won't follow you across different browsers or devices.

No tracking or analytics

We do not use cookies, analytics scripts, advertising pixels, or any third-party tracking on this site. Fonts and other assets are served directly from our own hosting, not from a third-party CDN that could log your visit.

Server logs

Like virtually any website, our hosting provider may automatically record standard technical request information (such as IP address, browser type, and page requested) in server logs, for security and abuse prevention purposes only. This is infrastructure-level logging, not something this site collects or has access to for tracking individual users.

Children's privacy

This site does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children, because it doesn't collect personal information from anyone at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
